Moving Foward

Friday's meeting was a great success!  My production team and I met at Starbucks and mapped out a plan of the entire movie,  added a little more on the script to give it more drama, contacted our storyboard artist, made the flyer for the movie, and lastly posted our add on to Indiana Film network and Indiana Actors website.  Also, we completed the timeline and picked out the location. For the most part we are right on schedule.  As far as foreseen difficulties locking down the actresess will cause for some problems because of the changing  of the weather.  Our goal is to have this  movie take place in the fall.

Gathering a Production Crew

On Friday, September 30, 2011 at the 56th and Allisonville Starbucks @ 10am a meeting will take place between my team and myself to divide the amount of work that it will take to get this movie produced and finalized.  My team and I are very excited to produce  a 15-minute movie to its entirety from finish to end with the help of three other people.  It's going to take plenty of hard work to bring out the drama this suspense thriller is composed of: From getting the script written to deciding who will play what roles.  The Friday's meeting will start finalizing this deal!

Short Film Title: "Someone I Should Know"

I am writing to inform you that I have changed my mind about my Capstone project. I have chosen to do a suspenceful short film based on the separation of a mother and child through an abortion. The beginning starts with a daughter and mother on the phone discussing many different topics while the daughter is window shopping, and the mom is at home.  As the movie plays out the daughter notices images of the little boy who never existed or did he?

Capstone Pitch:

The Capstone project I will conduct deals with a Documentary             the description of my documentary will consists of a linear documentary of a day and a life of.  The project will include pictures and video of                                          at past and present locations that reflect what influenced his current situation.  Along with pictures and video, I will ask                                       probing questions to make a connection between his childhood and adulthood.  The goal of this endeavor is to better understand the multifaceted aspects that go into producing a documentary.  The projected outcomes consist of a detailed and enriched understanding of the processes of conducting and producing a short documentary film. This format is set up for anyone, not just one person in particular.

Key Components For a Mentor:

1) Willingness: Eager and readiness to do something 

2) Experience in movie making and production, which includes sound. 

3) Knowledge of how many students per mentor. 

4) Availability: what does their schedule look like, and will they be available?

Influences:

Steve Mannheimer’s research is in the area of design and development: media and music technology. Dealing with a documentary, design and flow are major in the success of a documentary.  Due to the type of capstone that I am interested in doing I believe that Steve Mannheimer's leadership could benefit me as well.  I still have not heard a reply for the questions that I have for him to answer. But I will be posting as soon as I get a reply.

Joseph Defazio.

After reading Dr. Defazio’s resume, I find his background very interesting. Dr. Defazio joined the faculty IUPUI as a joint appointment between the School of Engineering and the School of Informatics in 2002. He is actively engaged in teaching, mentoring, and supervising many projects in the area of Media Informatics. His research is in the area of design and development in the fields of media and music technology. He has produced several multimedia projects that are currently on display and in operation in the city of Indianapolis. A documentary entails just what Dr. Defazio Majors in. I have contacted Dr.Defazio via email waiting on a response of a few questions I have for him. I will post.

Susan Tennant

Susan Tennant is an Associate Clinical Professor in Media Arts & Science. Susan’s teaching schedule currently encompasses digital documentation of cultural heritage and physical computing. She also is an instructor of Informatics study abroad program in Paros, Greece. I have had a chance to see one of Ms. Tenant documentary. The way here documentary was formatted is very similar to how I would like my documentary to flow. By her being in great demand for being a mentor, She will be contacted at a later date. I am currently contacting her via email.  Will post her answers to the question I have posed

A Secondary Mentor

A secondary Mentor, in my opinion, is one who will be on standby just in case the primary mentor has to drop out. A secondary mentor should also know everything that pertains to ones project.  But a secondary mentor should not be depended upon while the primary mentor is available. Thier role is just for the purpose of standing by.
When looking for the best places to find a mentor, the schools directory would have to be the best place to find one. But honestly, "I have no ideal".
In conclusion when looking for a mentor, their work load is very important. For example, if a mentor has too many candidates, his or here time is very limited creating a cloudy relationship. Make sure he or she are not burned out in their particular field. Reason being, if their not motivated in their own work, why should they be interested in yours.

Thoughts on Class Discusion

My thoughts on the class discussion were filled with mixed opinions. Reason being is that I already have my time line written out and my dates set up with the Congressman. So listening to others who do not have any ideal what their capstone will be only makes me feel like I am ahead of the game. Filming starts the 27 day of September, and I am so excited.
