Progress Report

The short film "Someone I Should Know" is moving along great.  On November 5, we began shooting. The actors and actresses all showed up and were ready to shoot.   The only problem we ran into was the Marathon that was being held in the inner-city Indianapolis, which caused my co-producer and I  to be 2hrs late to the shoot in which the crew waited on us for two hours; I was mortified. The owner of the house, which we needed for the house scene gave us only 4hrs to use their facility.  First, we came in and shot the "Meat of the Film" and everything else leaving the owner very happy that  we didn't have to stay past our allotted time.  On November 12 the crew and I ran into one slight problem because the owner of the boutique that we needed for our second scene failed to show up on time thus leaving us hanging and upset.  To our surprise, the following week of November 19 we were able to lock down a different boutique for the second scene and successfully film within two hours of the time we were granted.  Furthermore, the weekend of December 3 we will be shooting two more scenes leaving us with three scenes left.  Unfortunately, we are behind schedule by two weeks due to no shows and holiday breaks that slightly changed the timeline.  Overall we are still optimist that we will successfully meet our timeline goals in finishing the short film.

Rehersal

Today's rehearsal was a great success:  Three of the main characters arrived to make for a successful day.
Emily Rhoads:
Will  play the lead role of Michell Lawson; she brought nothing, but the best. She is a veteran actress with a variety of roles in local films.
Cassandra Schomer:
Will play the role of Claire, Michelle Lawson, a nervous secretary. Ms. Schomer is known for her TV/Radio Commercial and Voice-over work. Once she started practicing her lines, "she nailed every take!" I was definitely impressed.
Drake Crossly:
Will play the role of Marcus, the boyfriend to Michelle Lawson.   Drake was energetic and brought an intensity to his role
All in all, today's rehearsal is indicative of what is to come: a successful movie!

First Auditions

On Saturday, October 22, 2011 our auditions were held at the IUPUI green room.  At the auditions we had six people of interest show up, and out of the six people we narrowed it down to five strong candidates for the roles.  I am very excited about the candidates in the end because they all came with acting experiences.  Now we are moving toward the phase of rehearsals.  Our rehearsals will begin next Saturday, October 29, 2011.  Lastly, as of today we are on schedule with the outlined timeline.

Project Development Issues

Time Management Issues:
As of now there are not any time management issues. Everything so far seems to be on time. The actresess have been chosen and the locations have been scouted out.  The only thing left is getting the actresess comfortable with their lines as well as locations locked down with consent forms signed.

Skills needed.
Skills that will be needed for the production will consist of camera operation, working with a steadicam, which keeps the camera steady for filming when moving.  Furthermore, lighting experience and working Zoom Mics  for sound are all techniques needed to be applied.

Resources Needed:
The resources needed will be an assortment of props, an office room, shopping mall, and an affluent house used for the last scene.  The use a Cannon XH1S, Cannon 7D, and a Zoom recorder for sound will be used as well.

Budget:
This is a cost effective budget of $500.00 for the payments the  actresses, food, and various resources needed to film.

Issues:
The team and I have worked together before on a short film so as of now there are no real issues between us. The major issue I have is getting a Mentor. I have asked 5 professors and each one of them has declined because of their lack of experience in film-making.  Despite this major issue, the show must go on, and I must continue to move forward.
